2021-2022 Recruitment Application Now Open!

Hello everyone,

ATX Science Olympiad is excited to announce that our 2021-2022 member application is NOW OPEN! We are looking for incoming UT students who are passionate about improving the Science Olympiad experience and engaging in meaningful STEM outreach to join our team. More information can be found on our application [link: https://tinyurl.com/atxscioly21], including the positions we are actively recruiting for. We will be evaluating applications on June 11th as well as mid-August, so apply early if you want to start working with us this summer!

In addition to our annual invitational and regional tournaments, we manage multiple outreach initiatives, from mentoring students at local Title I schools to hosting our annual Coaches’ Clinic. Many of our members forge deep connections throughout the Science Olympiad community, designing trial events, supervising at tournaments across the country, and even helping write the rules!

We will be hosting an interest meeting on June 3rd, from 6-7 pm CST if you want to learn more about our organization. The zoom link is https://utexas.zoom.us/j/92429029340 and is also located within the application. We hope to see you there!

If you have any questions, our team would be more than happy to answer them - just shoot us an email at atxscioly@gmail.com. Whether you’re an experienced Science Olympiad veteran or simply someone who loves STEM, we’d love to have you join our team!

ATX SciOly Supports UT Students and the Greater Austin Community after Winter Storm Uri

ATX SciOly members were heavily affected by Winter Storm Uri-related power outages, pipe bursts, and water shortages. We recognize that countless others in the Austin Area endured the same. We have donated $100 to the Student Emergency Fund: Texas Tough Hornraiser, which supports UT students, and $100 to Caritas of Austin, which supports Austin’s homeless population especially in recovery efforts after the storm. Our community is strong and resilient, and we are honored to be able to contribute towards its recovery.

ATX SciOly Raises $1753 to Fund New SciOly Teams

We are proud to conclude our Hornraiser Campaign after raising $1753 for schools that are starting new SciOly teams! Our initial goal was $1000 which we rapidly achieved! We were blessed to be supported by 19 donors in four states, and look forward to disbursing our funds to deserving schools!

If you are a Texas school starting a new Science Olympiad team and are interested in being supported financially or through mentorship by ATX SciOly, please email us at atxscioly@gmail.com!

ATX SciOly Partners with UT CoP Scaffolding Success Program

We are proud to announce that ATX Science Olympiad is helping pilot the Scaffolding Success program through the UT College of Pharmacy. Scaffolding Success is a program where UT PharmD students and ATX SciOly undergraduates virtually mentor local K-12 students in STEM topics. ATX SciOly is proud to offer the capability to help fund new Science Olympiad teams at these schools. Currently, Scaffolding Success takes place through a for-credit graduate Pharmacy course, and ATX SciOly has mentored at LBJ High School.

ATX SciOly is determined to continue our mission of increasing STEM literacy among students. Unfortunately, our organization has concluded recruitment for the 2020 season. However, keep an eye on this site and our social media for future engagement opportunities throughout the year!
